KIWI
Kiwi
fruit derives its name from New Zelands Kiwi bird. And while a major
export of this mountainous Pacific island, the fruit is widely grown
whereever climates allow, throughout both hemispheres.
Covered
with a downy fuzz, its thin brown skin breaks open to reveal velvety
bright green flrsh sprinkled with a ring of tiny, edible black seeds.
the taste of kiwi fruit, which ranges from sweet to tart, has been
compared with a combination of other fruits, such as strawberries,
nectarines, and melons. Kiwi fruit blends well with other fruits
and makes a striking and stylish garnish. it is also highly satisfying
(and nutritious) eaten on its own. Ounce for ounce, it is higher
in vitamin C than most fruits and is a decent source of potassium.
Once
considered an exotic specialty item, it has become immensely popular
in the past two decades. It is a fruit widely recognized and loved
in the U.S.
Since
1995, TRUCCO has imported its own brand KiwiStar, from Italy and
elsewhere.
